Faith Hill: A Biography
By Aaron Ainsworth (SHS)
Faith Hill, born on September 21,1967, in Jackson, Mississippi, has definitely made her place in country music stardom. Audrey Faith Perry was born to Ted and Edna Perry, and seven years later made her first debut in music at a mother-daughter luncheon (Faith Hill Facts). Little did she know that this was the beginning of a fantastic career.
A graduate of McLaurin High School, Faith began her career with her first album Take Me As I Am. Sales of this album skyrocketed and gained Faith the position of being one of only two new country artist to get double platinum status for a debut release (Faith Hill). On January 21, 1994, Faith became the first female country artist to hold Billboard's number one position for four consecutive weeks, for a hit called Wild One. Her next album It Matters To Me, released in the fall of 1995,rose to the top of the charts even faster than the first album. The title cut spent three weeks at number one, and the album went double platinum (Biography and Facts). In the fall of 1998, Faith released her third album Faith.
In 1994,Faith was awarded by the Academy of Country Music, Favorite New Female and Billboard magazine's Top Female Country Artist. She was also nominated for 1994 and 1995 Country Music Association's Horizon award. In 1995, she received TNN/Music News Star of tomorrow award (Faith Hill). She also was selected one of the 50 most beautiful people by People magazine. Among her many other accomplishments, Faith was asked to perform at the closing ceremonies at the Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 (Biography and Facts).
Outside of her music career, Faith has managed to uphold a wonderful marriage to Tim McGraw. On October 6, 1996 in Rayville, Louisiana. Tim and Faith gave their vows to each other. May 5, 1997, their first child Gracie Katherine was born. Their second child, Maggie Elizabeth was born August 12, 1998. Faith states that if she wasn't able to have her kids on the road with her, she wouldn't be on the road either. Faith also states that her family is definitely the most important thing to her. Even with a family, Faith has been able to uphold a wonderful career, that seems to be getting even bigger (Jeter, Lynne Wilbanks).
