John Smith Hurt: A Biography
John Smith Hurt, the blues-folk singer and guitarist, was born in Teoc, Mississippi, on March 8, 1892, and lived most of his life in that vicinity around Avalon and Valley, Mississippi, in Carroll. He lived in Grenada, Mississippi, briefly and died there in November, 1966.
