Edith Teasley: A Biography
By Abigail Laughlin (SHS)

Edith Teasley was born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1925 but has lived many years in Starkville, Mississippi. She has four daughters, nine granddaughters, three great-granddaughters, and a great-grandson who provide her with plenty of subjects to write about. Her book In Stitches is composed of short stories based on her own real-life experiences. On the copyright page  she says, "This book is a book of facts. All names, characters, places and incidents are true. Any resemblance to actual events, locales, or persons, is entirely deliberate."

Teasley began writing for the First Baptist Church News Letter  and was noticed by the local newspaper. Since then she has been published weekly in the "Lifestyles" section of the Starkville Daily News.  At the encouragement of her readers, and with the support of family and friends, she published her short stories in In Stitches. (Teasley, 108 ) Her friends have noted that they are "very excited about the fact that some some member of her family has not strangled her with his/her bare hands" (Reed ).

She is retired, and in her free time  Teasley writes her stories, oil paints, reads, and acts  with the Starkville Community Theater. According to her book, she is "having the time of her life as a senior citizen."
